Terms of Use
Terms governing the free use of Ghost FTP, the website, hosted browser client, downloads and support services.
1. Acceptance and provider
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Ghost FTP software, website, downloads, browser-based web client, support channels and related services made available by Brendigo LTD.
By downloading, installing, accessing or using Ghost FTP, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software or services.
2. Licence and permitted use
Ghost FTP is provided to you as free software to download and use for lawful personal, educational, internal business and professional activities.
You may install and run Ghost FTP on devices you own, control or are authorized to use. You may use Ghost FTP to connect to servers and services only where you have valid authorization.
These Terms grant a limited right to use the product. They do not transfer ownership of the software, branding, website content or documentation.
3. Restrictions
- You may not use Ghost FTP for unlawful access, data theft, malicious automation, credential abuse or any activity that violates applicable law or third-party rights.
- You may not misrepresent Ghost FTP as your own product or remove proprietary notices where they are required.
- You may not intentionally interfere with the website, APIs, download systems or support channels.
- You may not bypass security controls or abuse the service in a way that harms reliability for others.
4. Releases, downloads and update delivery
Ghost FTP is distributed electronically. Release packaging, file names, hashes, version numbers, platform support and availability may change over time as the product evolves.
Download only from official Ghost FTP distribution points and verify published SHA-256 sums where available. pre-1.0 or experimental releases may be marked as such and may not provide the same guarantees as a future stable release.
Updates may modify, add, replace or remove features to improve security, compatibility, usability or maintainability.
5. Web client and hosted components
The browser-based /ftp client is a convenience interface intended to provide production-grade access to FTP, FTPS and SFTP workflows through a hosted runtime. Because browsers have platform limitations, some operations are carried out through the Ghost FTP server runtime instead of using direct native sockets from the browser.
You remain responsible for the credentials you enter, the destination systems you access, and the data you upload, download, delete, rename or transfer.
6. User responsibilities
- Keep independent backups of important files and server data.
- Verify hostnames, ports, protocols and credentials before connecting.
- Use SFTP or FTPS where possible instead of plaintext FTP.
- Comply with export, privacy, security and access-control rules that apply to your environment.
- Promptly review transfer results before deleting or overwriting data.
7. Support and communications
We may provide documentation, support pages, contact forms and bug-report channels for all users. Support is offered on a reasonable-effort basis. Response times, fixes, features and timelines are not guaranteed.
When you contact support, you are responsible for ensuring that the information you send is accurate, lawful to share and does not include unnecessary confidential material.
8. Intellectual property
Ghost FTP, its design, documentation, graphics, text, release packaging, trademarks, logos and other brand elements remain the property of Brendigo LTD or its licensors unless expressly stated otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms gives you a right to use our brand features in a way that suggests sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement without prior permission.
9. Availability and changes
We may improve, suspend, replace or discontinue part or all of the software, downloads, hosted endpoints, legal pages or support channels at any time, especially where required for security, abuse prevention, maintenance or platform compatibility.
We try to keep official information accurate, but occasional omissions, delays or temporary inconsistencies may occur.
10. Warranty disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ghost FTP is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise that the software or hosted services will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every possible threat or compatible with every server configuration.
You are responsible for evaluating whether Ghost FTP is suitable for your own environment, compliance requirements and operational risk tolerance.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Brendigo LTD will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential damages, including loss of profits, loss of revenue, business interruption, data corruption, security incidents, downtime or loss of use arising out of or related to Ghost FTP.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
12. Suspension, abuse prevention and termination
We may restrict or suspend access to the website, APIs, verification flows or support channels if we reasonably believe the service is being abused, attacked, automated in a harmful manner, or used in breach of these Terms or applicable law.
You may stop using Ghost FTP at any time by uninstalling the software and ceasing use of the website and hosted services.
13. Governing documents and privacy
Your use of Ghost FTP is also subject to the Privacy Policy. Where these Terms and another official Ghost FTP policy both apply, they should be read together and interpreted in a commercially reasonable manner.
14. Changes to these Terms and contact
We may update these Terms to reflect product changes, legal requirements or operational improvements. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised date.
If you have questions about these Terms, use the Contact page or consult the Support and Security pages for more context.
Always review the latest published version of these Terms before deploying Ghost FTP in production workflows.
